A decent day

So I haven't written much on this blog.  But I think I am going to start writing a lot more from now on. Today my pain problems were better usual but still bothersome.  Watched a couple episodes of Mythbusters and learned that fact that ducks quack does not echo is in fact a myth.  It seems like the myth started because a ducks quack actually sounds a lot like an echo. I'm also been angry at my mother because she hasn't sent my birth certificate quite yet it has been almost a month since I asked her to.  I am also quite excited about classes started out I'm taking two kinesiology classes that sound really fun.  One sounds basically like I will have a personal trainer as a class.  Oh I learned today that mindfulness meditation actually causes a change in the brain activity that inhibits the amygdala

Tuesday September 16, 2008

Not much happened today I had work which I really didn't do much at.  Had supplemental instruction again and  my supplemental instructor said that she doesn't mind me asking all the questions I do because she knows it that I am studying.  I found that a little weird because I am not studying for biology that hard.

Tomorrow I have a test social psychology at 6:30 p.m.

Typical Monday September 15th of 2008

Today was just a typical Monday. I had biology, research methods, and social psychology. At work I found out that there is only two of the professors who won't change from SPSS. the problem they have is that it is what is standard supposedly in their field. My response to that would be that they are committing a argument ad populum. for anyone doesn't know SPSS is a statistical program so all you would need is a statistical program, which there are many, that does and does same statistical analysis that you use and therefore any statistical program that does that should be acceptable. It infuriates me that professors at a four year university or using such horrible arguments to continue to buy a program which costs thousands of dollars per license. They should know better. today I talked to John at disability resources about the GRE I got depressed because of it because I will probably end up taking the paper version because of my RSI. I feel that I have my RSI because I am stupid and talked online too much. I am also worried that I will not be able to get into grad school because of my horrible grades.

I talked to my father today about my niece Jessie. He thinks that I should basically just talked to her using small talk, and that I should not try to teach or anything or promote at all ethical thinking in horror because she was raised in such a sheltered way. He also told me to talk like I would with another college student which if he knew how I talk to other college students he would know that I talk to other college students very skeptically. it just infuriates a bit both my mother and my partner do not like me when I talk skeptically and scientifically.

Tori (my girlfriend of over six years) talked to her parents today about a letter she got from the DMV about registering her car which she sold recently to her cousin. Her parents basically said that they will take care of it which I think is an load of shit.

Well tomorrow I have work in the morningat two I have philosophy of science and I have research lab tomorrow and SI again other than that it will probably end up being a typical Tuesday.

Spectacular Sunday the 14th of 2008

So today was a pretty fun day, the day started out with a brunch with The Atheist and Agnostic Society this morning around 11. Dr. Avalos Was in attendance today. One thing we discussed was the upcoming debate that he is going to have about whether or not gay rights should prevail over traditional biblical values. He hopes that it will fill the entire sun room (a medium-sized room in what we call the memorial union at my university). I think the debate should be a hands-down when her especially given that Hector thinks he's going to give a constitutional argument saying that since gay rights aren't in the Constitution the bill for they don't have those rights. I would like him to show me where in the Constitution is that the right to marry heterosexually is in the Constitution.

After we came home we took a nap for about an hour. When we woke up we caught the bus on campus and went around to each building that we could and put up flyers for the debate.

We then came home we ate some spaghetti afterward we listened to an episode of both the skeptics guide to the universe and the geologic podcast. When that was over I had to go to supplemental instruction for biology.

At supplemental instruction I seemed to get it the most and again I asked the supplemental instructor a question to which she didn't know the answer to.

I posted something on both the atheist and agnostic society Google group page and a few forums such as the jref , sgu and CFI's about what I can do to promote skepticism at my university and if the atheist and agnostic society wants to do some skeptical things.

Mo I have biology, social psychology, research methods and then work, in other words a typical Monday.

well that's all for today,
Zach
